Most sheds in Central Queensland need council approval before construction can start. The requirements change based on your shed size, height, location on the block, zoning and whether the structure is classed as a Class 10a building under the National Construction Code (NCC).
Each local council handles assessment slightly differently. Rockhampton Regional Council, Livingstone Shire, Gladstone Regional Council, Central Highlands Regional Council and Banana Shire all have their own planning schemes and requirements. Boundary setbacks and height limits matter, along with overlay restrictions for flood-prone or bushfire-prone areas.
